Item 5.02. Departure of Directors or Certain Officers; Election of Directors; Appointment of Certain
Officers; Compensatory Arrangements of Certain Officers
On December 12, 2018, Michael D. Curtius, Director of Mercury General
Corporation (the Company) informed the Company of his intention to resign from his position as Director of the Company effective January 1, 2019. Mr. Curtius has been a director of the Company since 1996. From October 2000 to
August 2012, Mr. Curtius was a consultant to the Company and he served as President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company from May 1995 until October 2000, and as Vice President and Chief Claims Officer of the Company from October 1987
until May 1995. The Board of Directors expresses its appreciation to Mr. Curtius for his 41 years of service on behalf of the Company and his invaluable advice on all types of matters. Mr. Curtius had no disagreements with the Company, its
Board of Directors or its management in any matter relating to the Companys operations, policies or practices.
