Explanatory Note
This Current Report on Form 8-K/A (the Amendment) is being filed as an amendment to the Current Report on Form 8-K filed by Apogee Enterprises,
Inc. (the Company) on June 28, 2017 (the Initial 8-K). The Initial 8-K was filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission to report the results of the matters submitted to a vote by the Companys
shareholders at the Companys 2017 Annual Meeting of Shareholders held on June 22, 2017 (the 2017 Annual Meeting). The sole purpose of this Amendment is to disclose, in accordance with Item 5.07(d) of Form 8-K, the
Companys decision as to how frequently the Company will conduct future shareholder advisory votes on executive compensation.

Frequency of Shareholder Advisory Votes on Executive Compensation
After consideration of the
results of the shareholder advisory vote on the frequency of future shareholder advisory votes on executive compensation at the 2017 Annual Meeting, the Board of Directors of the Company has determined, at a meeting held on October 4, 2017,
that advisory votes on executive compensation will be held annually until the next shareholder advisory vote on the frequency of the shareholder advisory votes on executive compensation.
